Why A Screen Room

Your Backyard, Minus The Bugs

Custom-framed screen room with ceiling fan and composite decking

Custom-Framed, Not A Kit

Every screen room is built on-site. The roof ties into your existing roofline so it looks like it's always been part of your house. No flat-roof prefab kits.

Ceiling Fan Included

Wired and installed by us. Every screen room comes with a fan that keeps air moving on warm Iowa evenings. Most nights you won't need AC.

Materials That Last

Composite decking, aluminum screening, powder-coated hardware. No staining, no painting, no replacing rotted wood. Built for Iowa weather.

The Difference

Why A Screen Room?

Bug-free from the first warm day to the last. Roof gives you shade all day. Light rain? You're still outside. Furniture stays clean and dry under cover. A screen room turns your backyard into real living space, spring through fall.

Common Questions

How is a screen room different from a screened-in porch?

They're the same thing. "Screen room," "screened-in porch," and "screen porch" all describe a covered, screened outdoor space attached to your home. We build them all the same way: custom-framed on-site with a roof that ties into your existing roofline.

Can you add a screen room to an existing deck?

In most cases, yes. If your deck's framing and footings are solid, we can build right on top of it. During the design session we'll inspect the structure and let you know if anything needs reinforcing first.

What kind of screens do you use?

We use fine-mesh aluminum screening that keeps out mosquitoes, gnats, and no-see-ums while still letting the breeze through. It's more durable than fiberglass and won't sag or stretch over time.

How long does it take to build a screen room?

Most screen rooms take about one to two weeks from start to finish, depending on size and complexity. We'll give you a specific timeline during the design session.

Do I need a permit for a screen room in Iowa?

Usually, yes. Most municipalities in the Cedar Rapids area require a building permit for an attached structure. We handle the permit process for you.

Can I use my screen room in winter?

A screen room is a three-season space: spring, summer, and fall. If you want year-round use, a sunroom or four-season room is the better fit.
